Solscan is the most widely used Solana block explorer, established in 2021 and acquired by the team behind Etherscan in January 2024.
Function
Solscan is a block explorer for the Solana blockchain, providing pages for transactions, accounts, tokens, NFTs, and programs, along with analytics dashboards and public APIs. For any SPL token it shows supply, holder lists, transfer history, and authority information, and for any wallet it shows balances and full activity. It is free to use, with paid API tiers for developers.
Use in the trenches
Solscan is the notary of the trenches. Traders paste a mint address to check holder concentration, see whether a deployer wallet is bundling supply across fresh wallets, watch a developer's wallet for sells, and verify claims such as burned liquidity or revoked mint authority that tools like RugCheck summarize automatically. Sleuthing threads on X that expose insiders typically cite Solscan transaction links as evidence, and "check the chain" in practice means checking Solscan. It sits alongside Bubblemaps for visual cluster analysis and Birdeye for trading focused wallet data.
History
Solscan was established in 2021 and grew with the Solana ecosystem to more than three million monthly users. On January 3, 2024 Etherscan, operator of the dominant Ethereum explorer, announced it had acquired Solscan, in a move framed as expanding multichain blockchain data services. Following the acquisition the platform shipped a redesigned analytics dashboard, expanded developer tooling, and deeper DeFi and NFT tracking through 2025. Birdeye founder Kha Nguyen previously served as Solscan's head of product, an example of the explorer's role as a talent seedbed for Solana data companies.
Status in 2026
Solscan remains the default Solana explorer in 2026, operated under the Etherscan family of explorers, and continues to be the standard citation for on chain evidence in Solana trading communities.
