Moonshot is a consumer meme coin trading app from the DEX Screener team that became the mainstream onramp during the TRUMP coin launch and was majority acquired by Jupiter in January 2025.
Function
Moonshot is a mobile first, self custodial trading app aimed at bringing normal consumers into meme coins. Unlike open launchpads it presents a curated list of tokens and lets users buy with Apple Pay, card or PayPal, converting cash into Solana meme coins in minutes without a seed phrase ritual. By 2026 the app also offers tokenized stocks and leveraged trading alongside meme coins. It is operated by the team behind dexscreener, the dominant charting site of the trenches.
History
DEX Screener launched Moonshot on June 24, 2024, initially as a token launchpad competing with pump.fun. The product was later repositioned as a curated consumer trading app, a pivot that set up its defining moment: the launch of official trump on January 18, 2025. The TRUMP website directed buyers to Moonshot, and the app went from roughly 309th in the US App Store finance category to first, with coverage reporting around 400 million dollars in trading volume and about 1 million daily active users within days. For a weekend it was the closest thing the meme coin market has had to a mass retail onramp.
Jupiter acquisition
On January 25, 2025, jupiter announced it had taken a majority stake in Moonshot, revealed at its Catstanbul conference alongside the acquisition of the portfolio tracker SonarWatch. Jupiter founder Meow praised the team, and the deal folded the leading consumer meme coin app into the leading Solana aggregator, terms undisclosed.
Use in the trenches
Trench traders rarely execute on Moonshot themselves, since curated listings arrive later than bonding curve launches. Instead the app functions as a signal: a Moonshot listing marks a coin crossing from the trenches into retail distribution, and the accompanying demand wave is traded accordingly, much like a binance listing at larger scale.
Status in 2026
Moonshot remains live in 2026 at moonshot.com and on mobile app stores, marketing meme coins, tokenized stocks and leverage within the Jupiter orbit.
