Official Trump is a Solana meme coin launched by Donald Trump days before his January 2025 inauguration, briefly one of the most valuable meme coins ever created.

Official Trump (TRUMP) is a meme coin on the Solana blockchain launched on January 17, 2025, by then President elect Donald Trump through affiliated entities. Its launch, three days before the inauguration, was the largest celebrity coin event in crypto history and reshaped, then arguably broke, the meme coin market.

Origin

The token was announced on Trump's social media accounts on the evening of January 17, 2025. Of the planned one billion supply, 200 million circulated at launch, with 80 percent of the total allocated to Trump affiliated entities CIC Digital LLC and Fight Fight Fight LLC, subject to unlock schedules. The launch used Solana rails and was framed as a celebration meme rather than an investment, per its own disclaimers.

Market history

TRUMP went vertical through the weekend of January 18 and 19, 2025, reaching an all time high around 75 dollars on January 19. Circulating market capitalization peaked around 15 billion dollars, with fully diluted valuations far higher, and Forbes and others tracked it surging past major established tokens within 48 hours. The launch of Melania on January 19 coincided with a roughly 40 percent drawdown in TRUMP, and the pair's collapse pulled liquidity out of the entire meme complex; many traders date the end of the 2024 to 2025 meme supercycle to that weekend. In April 2025 the project announced a gala dinner for the top 220 holders, held May 22, 2025, at Trump National Golf Club in Virginia; attendees spent an estimated 148 million dollars on the token to qualify, and critics in Congress and the press described the event as selling access to the presidency. News outlets also reported that the entities behind the coin collected substantial trading fee revenue. By late 2025 the coin had fallen about 93 percent from launch highs, and in August 2026 it traded near 1.40 dollars, a market capitalization around 360 million dollars, down roughly 98 percent from peak.

Cultural impact

TRUMP is the pivot point of modern meme coin history. It legitimized political meme coins at the highest possible level while simultaneously, in the view of many traders and commentators, vacuuming retail liquidity out of the trenches and souring public sentiment on the asset class. Ethics scholars and lawmakers cited it as an unprecedented conflict of interest; trench culture cites it as the ultimate proof that no one is exit liquidity proof. Debates over the "Trump top" remain a staple of meme coin retrospectives.
