Meteora is a Solana liquidity protocol known for its DLMM pools and launch infrastructure, which hosted the TRUMP token launch and later issued the MET token.

Function

Meteora is a suite of liquidity protocols on Solana. Its flagship Dynamic Liquidity Market Maker (DLMM) concentrates liquidity in price bins and charges dynamic fees that rise with volatility, rewarding liquidity providers during violent memecoin moves. Its Dynamic Bonding Curve (DBC) program provides configurable bonding curve launch infrastructure used by external launchpads, including Believe and Jupiter Studio, and its launch pool model was used for the JUP and TRUMP token debuts.

Use in the trenches

Meteora made liquidity providing a trenches activity in its own right. During 2024 and 2025 a subculture of "LP army" traders farmed DLMM fees on volatile memecoin pairs, treating dynamic fee capture as an alternative to directional trading. Because many launchpads settle on Meteora pools, trenches traders routinely end up trading against its liquidity whether they arrive through Jupiter routing, Axiom, or GMGN.

History

The project began in 2021 as Mercurial Finance, a stablecoin AMM whose treasury was badly hit by the FTX collapse, and relaunched under the Meteora name with a broader mandate. Cofounder Ben Chow was also an early contributor to Jupiter. On January 17, 2025 the TRUMP token launched using Meteora's launch pool infrastructure; during that weekend Meteora became the first DEX on any chain to exceed 50 million dollars in fees in 24 hours, according to DefiLlama data cited by Helius. In February 2025 Chow resigned amid allegations around the LIBRA token and the M3M3 staking product, and reporting by Gate Learn describes a class action naming him over the LIBRA and MELANIA launches; the claims remain allegations in litigation. The MET token launched by airdrop on October 23, 2025, with 48 percent of supply allocated to the community, in what coverage called one of Solana's most controversial token generation events.

Status in 2026

Meteora operates normally in 2026 as a top Solana liquidity venue, with MET trading and its DBC stack powering multiple launchpads.
