Hoodrat (HOODRAT) is a meme coin on [[Robinhood Chain]] launched in early July 2026, one of the first breakout memes of the chain that Robinhood built for tokenized stocks and that meme coins promptly colonized. Its mascot is a rat in the "hood," a pun on the chain's name.

## Origin

Hoodrat launched on Uniswap deployed liquidity within days of Robinhood Chain's meme scene igniting. The project claims its character is inspired by the surreal universe of Matt Furie's Night Riders comic, the world of frogs, rats, dragons and dreamlike caves from the artist behind Pepe; this lineage is the project's own framing rather than any confirmed involvement by Furie. The name landed because it fused the chain's branding with an existing slang archetype, and the community filled in the rest with slogan warfare: "study Hoodrat," "return to Hoodrat," and "billions must Hoodrat."

## Market history

The token ran almost immediately. CryptoRank records an all time high price of about 0.0149 dollars on July 10, 2026, an implied market capitalization of about 15 million dollars, making it one of the largest pure memes on the chain during the week when CoinDesk reported that meme coins, not tokenized stocks, were driving Robinhood Chain's early volume. Bitrue listed it among the five largest meme coins on the network that month. The chart cooled with the wider chain rotation, and as of mid August 2026 HOODRAT trades at a market capitalization of about 2.2 million dollars per DexScreener and CryptoRank.

## Community story

Hoodrat's community runs a pure repetition meta, no roadmap and no mechanics, just the slogans applied daily, which commentators compared to the [[cult coin]] posting style of earlier Solana memes. As the chain's self declared "menace," it plays the degen counterpart to wholesome neighbors like [[Brodie]], and the two are usually cited together as the poles of the chain's first meme summer alongside [[Frong]] and [[Stonkbroker]].

## Current status

As of mid August 2026 the token still trades actively on Robinhood Chain DEXs with its community intact, down roughly 85 percent from the July peak.
