Fartcoin (FARTCOIN) is a meme coin on the Solana blockchain launched on pump.fun on October 18, 2024. Its name came from conversations involving Truth Terminal, the AI agent behind Goatseus Maximus, which had mused that the perfect meme coin would be called Fartcoin. It became the largest of the AI adjacent meme coins and, for a stretch of 2025, the strongest large meme coin in the market.

Origin

Fartcoin was deployed anonymously during the GOAT mania, trading purely on the joke that flatulence themed "hot air" was the honest essence of meme coin value. Truth Terminal's creator Andy Ayrey did not launch it, but the token's association with the agent's lore, plus its shameless name, gave it instant distribution. The slogan "hot air rises" became its unofficial thesis.

Market history

Fartcoin crossed a one billion dollar market capitalization within weeks of launch and printed an all time high of about 2.48 dollars on January 19, 2025, a market value above 2.5 billion dollars, making it briefly larger than many established altcoins and, as commentators noted, larger than some listed industrial companies. Reporting attributed part of the subsequent selloff to Ayrey selling over 20 million dollars of airdropped FARTCOIN to fund the Truth Terminal Foundation. The coin showed unusual relative strength through 2025, repeatedly reclaiming the one dollar level while older memes bled, before fading; by August 2026 it traded around 0.13 to 0.14 dollars with a market capitalization near 140 million dollars.

Cultural impact

Fartcoin became the era's favorite absurdity benchmark: financial media loved comparing its valuation to real world firms, and traders used "Fartcoin is outperforming your altcoin" as a taunt throughout 2025. Within the trenches it stands as the purest expression of the attention thesis, a coin whose entire fundamental case is a fart joke endorsed by an AI, and it is regularly cited alongside dogwifhat as proof that liquidity chases humor. It also cemented the pattern of AI agents functioning as meme oracles whose passing remarks could mint billion dollar assets.
