Brett, also called Based Brett, is a [[meme coin]] on Base, the Ethereum layer 2 network launched by Coinbase. It is based on Brett, a laid back blue character from Matt Furie's comic Boy's Club, the same comic that produced Pepe the Frog. Launched in February 2024, it became the largest meme coin on Base and the chain's unofficial mascot.

## Origin

BRETT launched in February 2024, shortly after Base opened to the public, with a supply of about 10 billion tokens.
