wiwiwi (WIWIWI) is a cat themed meme coin on [[Solana]] named after the wi wi wi cat, a viral kitten meme. During the first half of August 2026 it became one of the most cited tickers of the [[cult coin]] meta, less for its size than for its framing: the trader Dogen (@realdogen) distilled the moment into the post "cults > cabals $wiwiwi", one of the most quoted lines of the rotation.

## The meme

The wi wi wi cat is a small kitten, later revealed by its owner to be named Pepe, whose squeaky vocalizations while eating sound like "wi wi wi." The sound comes from a March 2024 TikTok video by the account @chocoquierellorarr_ and exploded in early February 2025 as the soundtrack of the hopecore trend, in which the kitten audio was paired with life affirming montages of nature and human kindness. Know Your Meme documented the trend as it spread from TikTok to X and Instagram, making the sound one of the most recognizable animal memes of 2025.

## Token history

As with most viral animals, multiple tokens adopted the name. Token trackers show wi wi wi cat coins on Solana as early as January 2025, during the meme's original viral run, though those launches faded to negligible size. The token at the center of the August 2026 attention is a newer [[pump.fun]] launch: DexScreener data dates its PumpSwap pool to around July 30, 2026, and it drew a concentrated burst of crypto Twitter attention in the first week of August. As of mid August 2026 it was the largest and most liquid wiwiwi token, with a market capitalization around 280,000 dollars and daily volume in the low six figures, modest numbers that underline how much of its prominence was discursive rather than financial.

## Cult framing

wiwiwi's significance in the period is as an exemplar. In a market exhausted by [[cabal]] launches and [[insider]] supply games, the coin was pitched as pure community: a beloved, pre existing meme with no corporate owner, held by people who liked the cat. Whether that framing outlasts the news cycle is, as of August 2026, an open question, and the coin remains a microcap with the volatility that implies.
