Valentine (VALENTINE) is a Solana meme coin from July 2025 named after Grok's male AI companion, the sibling of the Ani coin, which pumped roughly 88,000 percent to about 18 million dollars on Elon Musk's naming announcement.

Valentine (VALENTINE), tracked by aggregators as Valentine Grok Companion, is a meme coin on the Solana blockchain launched on July 16, 2025. It is named after Valentine, the male AI companion that xAI added to Grok days after the anime character Ani, making the token the sibling of Ani Grok Companion in the July 2025 companion coin wave.

Origin

After Ani's launch dominated the internet, Elon Musk teased a male counterpart and on July 17, 2025 announced its name: Valentine, after Valentine Michael Smith, the protagonist of Robert Heinlein's novel Stranger in a Strange Land. Musk described the character's personality as inspired by Edward Cullen of Twilight and Christian Grey of Fifty Shades of Grey. Tokens claiming the name had begun trading the day before on the strength of the tease, and the canonical Solana launch from July 16 captured the announcement pump.

Market history

The naming post set off one of the sharpest single day moves of the summer. CCN reported VALENTINE hitting an 18 million dollar market capitalization within hours, a gain it measured at roughly 88,000 percent from the launch price, with the token trading around 0.023 dollars at the top. PANews recorded the market value exceeding 15 million dollars while rival companion tickers TAKI, CHAD and ANDREJ, each backing a wrong guess at the character's name, collapsed nearly 90 percent on the reveal. The token stabilized around 0.0019 dollars by late July 2025 and decayed from there. As of mid August 2026 it trades at a market capitalization of about 60,000 dollars per DexScreener.

Community story

Valentine is remembered less for its community than for its mechanism: a naming lottery in which traders pre positioned across every plausible name and the announcement instantly settled the bet. Coverage at the time treated it as a case study in how completely Musk product trivia had become a tradable event for the trenches. The community that remained adopted the brooding romance novel framing of the character, but the coin never developed the staying power of its sister Ani.

Current status

As of mid August 2026 the token is a residual chart with minimal volume, cited mainly in histories of the Grok companion meta.
