An insider is a participant in a token launch with privileged access: advance knowledge of the launch time or contract address, a hidden allocation of supply, or a direct connection to the [[dev]]. Wallets exhibiting this advantage are called insider wallets, and a launch dominated by them is described as "insided." Because meme coins have no formal securities framework, the word carries the moral weight of insider trading without its legal apparatus.

## Mechanics

Insider advantage shows up onchain. Wallets that buy within the first seconds of a launch, funded shortly beforehand through fresh addresses with no exchange history, are presumed to have known the timing in advance. A creator side [[bundle]] is the most organized form, placing supply into many wallets in the launch block itself. Analytics services cluster such wallets and publish insider percentages alongside sniper and bundle statistics, and traders screen these numbers during a rug check. A widely reported example: Cointelegraph documented that on the 2025 Solana launch of the FOCAI token, fifteen suspected insider wallets turned about 14,600 dollars into more than 20 million dollars after acquiring over 60 percent of supply at launch. ## History

Complaints about insider allocations date to the ICO era of 2017 and the presale metas of earlier meme coin cycles. The specific onchain forensics vocabulary, insider wallets, insider percentage, and automated insider detection, matured during the pump.fun boom of 2024 and 2025 as tracking tools became mainstream retail equipment.
