Clanker (CLANKER) is the token of Clanker, an autonomous AI agent on the Farcaster social network that deploys ERC20 tokens on Base, the Coinbase built Ethereum layer 2. Users tag @clanker in a Farcaster post with a name, ticker, and image, and the bot deploys the token and seeds a tradable pool. CLANKER was the first token the bot ever deployed, making it the reference asset of its own launchpad economy.

## Origin

Clanker launched in November 2024, built by Farcaster engineer Jack Dishman and the pseudonymous Farcaster ecosystem developer proxystudio.eth. It arrived as Base's answer to [[pump.fun]], but with a social twist: token creation happened conversationally, inside a feed, through an AI persona with a sardonic robot voice. The CLANKER token itself reached a market capitalization of about 70 million dollars by November 26, 2024, and within four months the bot had deployed over 166 thousand tokens, processed about 2.45 billion dollars in volume, and generated more than 18 million dollars in fees.

## The mechanic

Clanker collected a fee on trading in the pools it created, giving the deployer bot real revenue in an era when most [[AI agent meta]] projects had none. The project later rebranded the token under the name tokenbot, and roughly 7 percent of supply was permanently locked in a one sided liquidity pool to deepen markets.

## Market history

Unusually among 2024 agent tokens, CLANKER set its all time high a year after launch. In October 2025 Farcaster acquired Clanker, announcing that protocol fees would be used to buy and hold CLANKER and that legacy fee vault tokens would be burned. The token rose more than 350 percent on the news, reaching an all time high around 143 dollars on October 26, 2025, an implied market capitalization of about 143 million dollars.

## Status

The acquisition pop faded through the following months, and by August 2026 CLANKER traded about 91 percent below its high with a market capitalization near 12 million dollars. The bot remained operational as Farcaster's native token launcher, and Clanker is generally counted among the few agent era products, alongside [[aixbt]] and [[Virtuals Protocol]], that outlived the meta which created them.
